This black walnut console celebrates sweeping grain, warm color, and the natural markings that give a slab its identity. The sculptural base brings movement beneath the long, quiet line of the top.

During the build, I uncovered a nail embedded deep in the wood. The tree had grown around it for more than sixty years. Perhaps it once supported a treehouse or held a sign. We may never know—but discovering it became part of this piece’s story.

The finished console brings that history into a living space, where the walnut’s character can be seen and used every day.
